Every way into American sports.
One industry, every role: play in a club, coach a team, work at an arena, open your own league, fund a program, study sports at a university, sell to the industry, cover it in media. RunUSA Sports maps the whole industry and connects what is already registered, measured and published in the United States.
The sports industry map
This is the whole industry as RunUSA Sports models it. An organization can hold several roles at once: a university is an employer, a team owner, a research center and a buyer; a league can be an organizer, a media rights holder and a sponsor magnet. Roles are recorded only from confirmed data. The searchable data on this page is what is connected today, labeled sector by sector at its real depth.

Sports organizations near you
Every sports organization in this search is a real registered nonprofit or club from the Internal Revenue Service register: youth leagues, amateur clubs, federations' local bodies, recreation and sports associations. Pick your state, then type a sport or a name. To join, volunteer, work or partner, contact the organization directly under its registered name in its city.
Careers classified as sports
Occupations the official classifications tie to sports directly: the athlete, coach and official occupation group, plus occupations linked to sports education programs by the official CIP–SOC crosswalk. Pay is the national median from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (OEWS, May 2025): statistics, not job offers. On the main RunUSA site, each occupation opens its education paths and paid apprenticeship routes.
Open an occupation with its education pathsStudy sports
Degree and certificate programs in the sports field family (CIP 31: parks, recreation, leisure, fitness and kinesiology) from the College Scorecard field-of-study data, with published graduate earnings where the Department of Education releases them. Type a program or a school name.
Earnings are the published median one year after completion for that program. Programs are published at the four-digit field-family level, so a family title covers its narrower programs (sport management sits inside the Sports, Kinesiology and Physical Education family). A program listing is not an admission offer; cost and aid are decided by the FAFSA and the institution, both reachable from the main RunUSA education search.
National governing bodies
The national level of the industry: federations recognized by the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee and the sports the USOPC manages directly. A federation governs its sport nationally: rules, coaching and officials' education, national teams and the competition calendar.
Build in sports
A club, a league or an academy starts as a legal organization. Two forms cover almost every sports project, and RunUSA already walks both routes step by step with official fees and filing links.
